Telling the stories behind how Canada builds and creates.

CanMakes is a new media storytelling project exploring how work actually gets done in Canada. From idea to execution, we show the real process behind the decisions, creativity, and people driving innovation, culture, and change.

What is CanMakes?

CanMakes documents how things are made in Canada

Each story focuses on:

the problem being tackled

the process behind the solution

the people making decisions

the systems, constraints, and trade-offs most stories never show

Featuring:

  • innovators and founders

  • creatives and commissioned artists

  • communications and strategy leads

  • organisations doing things differently

Across Canada — starting in Ontario.

Who It's For

CanMakes is for people who are curious about:

  • how ideas become reality

  • how organisations make decisions

  • how creative and strategic work really unfolds

  • how Canada is quietly changing

How Stories Are Made

Stories are:

  • short films

  • collaborative

  • shared openly with participants before publishing

What participants get

A short film by an award-winning photographer and strategist (previous work: FT, NYT, Bloomberg, AFP). Your work gets captured with editorial quality and marketing value. Early participants also receive select footage for their own use.

This is an independent project, created with care and respect for the people involved.

Have a story worth unpacking?

If you’re:

  • building something new

  • leading a campaign or initiative

  • working inside an organisation doing things differently

  • part of a process people rarely get to see

I’d love to hear from you!
